Virtualization is NOT a new concept

Back in 2008, when I first started in IT, I had assumed that VMWare was one of the first companies to introduce the notion of virtual machines. However, I recently discovered (in my graduate OS course) that the concepts of virtualization dates back to the early 1960s, almost 60 years ago! Seriously, take a look at this research paper: Formal Requirements for Virtualization Third Generation Architectures1.
